Prof. B. Jayaram

Prof. Jayaram is Director & Co-founder of Novo Informatics. Ltd. Also serving as a Prof. at Chemistry Department, IIT Delhi as well as Co-coordinator of SCFBio ("Super Computing Facility for Bioinformatics & Computational Biology") and KSBS (Kusuma School of Biological Sciences) , IIT Delhi.

He has obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the City University of New York (1986) under the guidance of Prof. David Beveridge, a renowned quantum chemist and one of the world’s leading experts in DNA modeling and Post-Doctoral assignment with Prof. Barry Honig, a pioneer in Biomolecular Electrostatics and Bioinformatics, at Columbia University, USA. 

Prof. Jayaram’s has published over 100 research papers in International journals .His contributions on electrostatics of DNA have eventually found their way into Delphi software of what was formerly Biosym and now Accelrys. Subsequently, he has worked as a Senior Research Associate with Prof. Beveridge at Wesleyan University where he developed methodologies to help understand the energetics of Biomolecular recognition. At IIT Delhi, he started building the infrastructure to carry out Biomolecular thereby modeling science and developing software, pursuing the dream of developing indigenous in silico solutions for personalized medicine (individual specific drugs with no side effects). A result of these efforts is the Supercomputing Facility for Bioinformatics & Computational Biology (SCFBio) at IIT Delhi, and the Gene to Drug suite of software’s (www.scfbio-iitd.res.in).He is an active member of DST’s Organic Chemistry Programme Advisory Committee, Chairperson of DIT’s task force on Bioinformatics, National Committee of IUPAB, Editorial Board of Journal of Molecular Graphics & Modeling, DST-FIST Committee for Chemical Sciences. To his credit, he also holds a position as Chairman of DBT’s committee for promotion and popularization of Biotechnology and Vice president of Indian Biophysical Society.

At Novo Informatics Pvt. Ltd. he is involved in supervising company’s progress and management activities.
